Erzincan şehrimizin yetiştirdiği büyük halk ozanı Ali Ekber Çiçek´i analım.
1935 yılında Erzincan'ın Ulular Köyü´nde doğan Ali Ekber Çiçek, babasını 1939 Erzincan depreminde yitirdi ve küçük yaşlarda rençberlik yapmaya başladı. Bu arada bağlamayı öğrendi ve cem toplantılarında kulağı Alevi deyişleri ve ezgileriyle doldu. İlkokul öğreniminden sonra maddi olanaksızlıklar sonucu öğrenimini sürdüremedi, ancak ağır yaşam şartlarına karşın müzikten hiç kopmadı.
Müzik aşkı ağır basınca İstanbul'a göç etti ve halk müziğinin önemli isimleriyle tanıştı. Askerden sonra TRT'nin açtığı sınavı kazanarak, Muzaffer Sarısözen döneminde TRT Ankara Radyosu'na ve Yurttan Sesler Korosu'na girdi. 35 yılı aşkın bir sürede 400'den fazla türküyü derleyerek geniş kitlelere ulaştırdı.
TRT arşivlerinde 54 kaseti bulunan Ali Ekber Çiçek'in ülkemizdeki bütün türkücüler tarafından derlemeleri söylenmektedir. TRT'den emekli olan sanatçı halen birçok ülkede konserler ve üniversitelerdeki sohbetler aracılığıyla bu toprakların sanatını dünyaya taşımaya çabalıyor. 2003 yılının başlarında TRT Belgesel Programlar Müdürlüğü tarafından Ali Ekber Çiçek'in hayatını anlatan "Cahilden Uzak Dur, Kemale Yakın" isimli belgesel çekilmiştir.Türk Halk Müziği sanatçısı Ali Ekber Çiçek 26.04.2006 tarihinde İstanbul'da vefat etti.
